How To Use ChatGPT... Revolutionise Your Business Productivity.

Love it or Hate it, AI is here to stay! In fact, AI been part of our daily life for years now….

  • Your Netflix algorithm which suggests new shows (mine is stuck on Spanish content after watching a few Spanish series - sidetone, they have great storylines)

  • Face recognition software for opening your phone

  • Google Maps

  • Grammarly and Spell Check

  • Cyber-bullying detection on social media platforms… the list goes on.

The rise of ChatGPT has brought awareness of AI capability (particularly Generative AI) to the fore. Here I want to explore the fundamentals of ChatGPT, along with how to get the best result from prompts and leverage use in your business operations.

Chat GPT is an advanced language Generative AI model developed by OpenAI. This is an Artificial Intelligence system designed to understand and generate human language text.

Key Terms:

  • Generative AI: A Category of AI that can ‘produce’ content like texts/images vs specific tasks like predicting things based on a data set.

  • AI Models: Basically large math equations or algorithms

  • Large Language Models: type of artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm that uses deep learning techniques and huge large data sets to understand, summarise, generate and predict new content.

  • Prompts: Specific inputs or instructions typed into ChatGPT.

  • Prompt Engineering: The ‘science’ of crafting the best messages to get the output you desire.

  • API Integration: The ability to integrate ChatGPT’s capabilities into applications or platforms using the provided API.

  • API: Stands for "Application Programming Interface." An API is a set of rules and protocols that allows different software applications to communicate and interact with each other. OpenAI allows various software and platforms to access ChatGPT without using the standalone interface.

Prompt Frameworks:

Instructional Prompts: I find it helpful to instruct ChatGPT: whom is it acting as for context (role), what they are required to do (job), how you would like the information presented and length (format) and how you would like it to sound (tone). For example: “You are a Personal Trainer specialising in work with postpartum women. Compose a 200-word blog post for website use with 10 Suggestions for 5-minute healthy, low-cal snacks. Please write in the tone of Kayla Itsines.”

Questions-Answering Prompts: Ask specific questions to elicit precise answers from ChatGPT. For example "What are the top three digital marketing trends in 2023?"

Creative Writing Prompts: Encourage ChatGPT to generate imaginative and creative content, like storytelling or poetry. For example “Write a sonnet celebrating fifty years of love and marriage and the journey from initial meeting until now, in the style of Shakespeare”

Formatting Tips:

  • Use clear instructions and specify the desired output format.

  • For longer content, break down the prompts into smaller parts for better accuracy.

  • Provide context in conversation mode to maintain coherence across turns.

Tips for Getting More Accurate Output:

  • Make your prompts more explicit and provide necessary details.

  • Experiment with different prompt variations to find the most suitable one.

  • Refine your instructions based on previous outputs to improve accuracy.

Key Use Cases:

  • Content Creation: Generate blog posts, articles, social media content, and more.

  • Copywriting: Craft compelling ad copies, product descriptions, and marketing materials.

  • Customer Support: Provide instant responses and solutions to customer queries.

  • Idea Generation: Brainstorm ideas for new products, services, or marketing campaigns.

As a business owner, you may be interested in exploring Generative AI apps such as:

  • Dall-E (part of OpenAI) Dall-E generates images.

  • Jasper - Generates marketing content from blogs to campaigns.

  • Murf - A text speech generator, Murf enables anyone to convert text to speech, voice-overs, and dictations.

  • Synthesia - Turns your text into videos with AI avatars and voiceovers — in over 120 languages. There is no need to use a microphone, video recorder or actor.

  • Soundraw - Generates royalty-free music for you based on your individual prompts.

These are just a handful of the options currently available to you and which will only expand and improve in offering over time. These applications will save you time and money. Increasing your productivity and allowing you and your employees to focus on other business needs.

On a side-note, AI has exciting application for both Generative and Predictive purposes: A friend of mine I was speaking with recently, works for an imaging company. They are now using AI to diagnose two types of cancer. They regularly purchase additional scan results from the United States in order to grow their data set and keep AI ‘learning’ - thus increasing the accuracy of it’s diagnoses - which incidentally are a few percentage higher in accuracy than human diagnoses.

You can choose to resist or embrace change. It’s an exciting world we live in - and I personally can’t wait to see the new developments over the next six months!
